Pinterest has now made it easy for users to find pins they might like so they can cut down on the time spent on discovery. The new feature is called ‘related pins’ and as the name implies, recommends a selection of pins to users’ home feed. Pinterest and LinkedIn Hot on the Heels of Facebook and Twitter in Content Sharing

That 75% of all online content is shared on Twitter and Facebook may not come as a big surprise to anyone. But here’s the big news: two well-known players are making rapid inroads into the content-sharing space. LinkedIn and Pinterest have reported robust sharing numbers; the world’s largest professional sharing network saw its content sharing rise by over 19% while the photo-sharing website posted a 15% growth in sharing. Facebook moved at a relatively slow pace, recording a growth of just under 15% while Twitter declined 8%.

LinkedIn’s New App ‘Intro’ Targeted at Mobile Email

LinkedIn has unveiled a new mobile app that provides a better email experience and enablers users to make more informed decisions on adding potential business connections on their smartphones. Called ‘Intro’, the app provides a summarized profile of the sender above the email client. The profile comprises the sender’s picture and small professional bio. When you click on the Intro bar, a more detailed profile of the sender is displayed. It includes the sender’s work history, education, mutual connections, and recommendations received by him/her from other LinkedIn users.

Facebook Home Now Friendlier to Flickr, Pinterest and Tumblr

The Facebook Home lock screen has opened up new content to Android beta testers. The Facebook Home software allows Android users to bring content and updates directly to their lock screen. Users can now access third-party applications on the lock screen without unlocking their phones. This means Pinterest, Flickr, Tumblr and Instagram posts and photos can be viewed and Liked. However, Facebook hasn’t indicated if it will make other apps like Twitter available in the future.

Richard Rosenblatt Bids Adieu to Demand Media

The Co-founder, Chairman and CEO of leading content and social media company Demand Media resigned as Chairman and CEO on Oct 14, 2013. The company’s co-founder Shawn Colo will serve as interim CEO until such time as the board finds a replacement. Rosenblatt’s departure comes at a time when Demand Media is planning to split itself into two publicly traded companies, one offering domain registry services, and the other dedicated to how-to articles. The company has announced that there are no changes to the plan in the wake of Rosenblatt’s resignation.
